WAMSI Westport Marine Science Program
Westport has partnered with Western Australian Marine Science Institution (WAMSI) to deliver a major collaborative science program on the marine environment at Cockburn Sound. The WAMSI Westport Marine Science Program will ensure the environmental impact assessment for Western Australia’s future container port is based on independent and outstanding science.
The program will draw on numerous experts from the physical, biological and social science disciplines in Western Australia to fill knowledge gaps about this most important and unique coastal ecosystem. Seagrass researchers from UWA are involved in Benthic Habitats and Communities theme looking at benthic habitat mapping, pressure-response relationships, building resilience and future proofing seagrass meadows, and seagrass restoration.
